Idk why people are struggling to understand that critising Bucky’s ignorance to the racism Sam deals with doesn’t mean you cant love the character, it doesn’t mean he’s an awful person. What it shows is that racist behaviour doesn’t always come from “the bad guys”, it can come from people like Bucky who clearly cares about Sam but isnt educated enough to notice when things he says/does/thinks are racist. Its about listening to poc try to tell you what you do/say is racist even if you don’t realise it is, it’s a learning opportunity and that’s all people are saying about Bucky. That he’s unaware of his ignorance and they hope he’ll grow to be more aware of his privilege as a white man and understand why Sam’s decision to give up the shield was about him as a black man being given the responsibility of protecting a country that doesn’t protect him.
